Laughter is deceptively simple, but remarkably powerful. Years of research and anecdotal evidence reveal that Laughter plays a powerful role in healing, staying healthy, managing stress and reactions, maintaining emotional balance, as well as creating perspective. Children laugh 150- 300 times a day but adults laugh maybe 15 times a day.  Frankly, if we walked into a super market laughing out loud for joy like a child, we would be seen as crazy!  The Wellbeing Laughter Club creates a safe place for laughter. The Wellbeing Laughter Club allows us to re-learn to laugh like a child.  In doing so, we release the layers which block the natural flow of our inner river of wellbeing and joy.  We experience joy and vitality!  The Wellbeing Laughter Club is fun, fun, fun!

Unleashing the Joy Machine Within Through Laughter:
Caring for the Caregiver, Caring for the Registrant
 Date:  April 23, 2010
 Host:  ADHCC
 Location:
 Gideon Putnam Hotel
 24 Gideon Putnam Road
 Saratoga Springs, New York, 12866
 Time:  11:30am - 1pm
When we look at children, by nature they are joyful, vibrant, full of energy, and laugh often.  Children laugh because it is their nature to be joyful, and not because they have a developed sense of humor.  They laugh from the inner place of Wellbeing.  When we were children we laughed 150 -300 times a day.  We laughed because we were in the state of Well-being.  We laughed for no reason. We laughed because we were alive.

Adults laugh maybe 15 times a day.  What happened to our inner joy and laughter?  Is lack of vibrancy, energy and not experiencing true joy the norm for growing old?

As paradigms of health shift, we begin to see that well-being is our birthright.  We begin to understand that the joy and wellbeing of childhood is still within and can be uncovered.  It never went away.

We realize that as individuals, we really matter and that caring for ourselves matters as well.   We find an inner World and inner muscles which we can exercise to experience well-being.  We begin the journey of self-care with intention and take one step at a time.

Why is laughter so special?

When we laugh, we get a taste of well-being, the deliciousness of being alive.  We experience the true nature of our existence which is ecstatic:  joy, vitality, inner peace...  When we laugh, we release tension in the body and let go stress (emotional upsets).  As we laugh we relax and the drive to “go and do” disappears.  Laughter shifts our experience and we stop focusing upon our problems.  We enter the moment and cease worrying about the future or the past.  We put our burdens down.  Our mind quiets.  We let go of inhibitions that we created which suppress joy and begin to feel at ease and peaceful.  We enter the place of being, Human Being.  Our heart begins to open, and we experience love.  Joy springs forth!  We remember that we are innately good and do not have to do anything but be ourselves.  We feel free.  When we laugh, we uplift ourselves and those around us.
